38WELT Anniversary Editions

2016WELT was first published on April 2, 1946 and had been founded by the British military government. Axel Springer bought the newspaper seven years later for two million marks. The acquisition was announced in a small notice at the bottom of page one – in modest Hanseatic style. Today, WELT is a multimedia brand. In addition to the daily and Sunday editions, WELT is a successful online brand and operates its own television channel. The anniversary edition for its 70th birthday was designed by Udo Lindenberg – who was also born in 1946.
