1949The mascot of Hör zu! was Mecki the hedgehog. Initially intended to expose grievances, he soon became a cozy character who experienced all kinds of adventures with his friends. Mecki first appeared on the cover of issue 43 in 1949 and was “looked after” by various illustrators over the years. His creators, however, were the brothers Paul, Ferdinand and Hermann Diel. In addition to the comic strips in Hör zu!, thirteen Mecki books were published.
