27BE HUMAN! Margot Friedländer

2024Margot Friedländer survived the Holocaust, losing her mother and brother in Auschwitz before emigrating to the United States after the Second World War. Decades later, she returned to Berlin and became one of Germany’s most influential voices against forgetting the Holocaust. She maintained a close connection with Axel Springer, regularly engaging with trainees at the Axel Springer Academy and employees across the company. Through her testimony and tireless commitment, she inspired generations to stand up against antisemitism, hatred and intolerance. In 2024, her life motto, “Be human” (“Seid Menschen”), was installed in the Axel Springer building in Berlin. It serves as a lasting reminder of her unwavering dedication to humanity, empathy and mutual respect.
